Our Bright Door team provides comprehensive speech pathology and occupational therapy assessments that explore your child’s strengths and needs, helping to build a clear understanding of their development across home, school and community settings.

Speech Pathology Assessments:

Our speech pathologists complete comprehensive assessments to investigate your child’s communication skills in the areas of:

  • Receptive and expressive language
    (understanding and using spoken and written language)
  • Speech production
    (clarity of speech and accuracy of sounds)
  • Literacy
    (reading, spelling and writing skills)
  • Social communication
    (using communication to interact, play and connect with others)

Our team is skilled in the assessment and diagnosis of Language DisorderDevelopmental Language Disorder (DLD) and Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS).

As part of each assessment, we work closely with families and other members of the multidisciplinary team to build a complete picture of your child’s strengths and needs across home, school and community settings.

Occupational Therapy Assessments:

Occupational therapists can provide assessment to investigate the following areas:

  • Sensory needs
  • Gross and fine motor development
  • Attention and concentration skills
  • Participation in daily activities, such as self-care and social skills

Occupational therapists can also complete Functional Capacity Assessments. A Functional Capacity Assessment, also known as an FCA, is an in-depth evaluation of your child’s ability to participate in day-to-day tasks and activities, to identify the supports they may require.  An FCA can assist you with accessing the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
