Please note that parents may be required to participate in an intake session (at an additional cost) to assist our therapists in determining if a program is suitable for your child.

    Sensory Explorers

    Tailored for young adventurers, this program is a magical journey of sensory processing. Guided by our amazing occupational therapists, participants engage in hands-on activities designed to enhance their sensory experiences and encourage exploration of new sensations. Sensory Explorers offers a supportive space where children can explore a world of sensory wonders under the careful guidance of our therapists.

    Building Blocks

    Dive into creativity and growth with our Building Blocks program. Building Blocks uses the magic of Lego to enhance motor skills, coordination, executive functioning, and social interaction. Led by our fabulous allied health practitioners, participants embark on a journey where every brick becomes a building block for both imagination and development. Engage in hands-on activities that promote strategic thinking, fine motor skills, and teamwork. Building Blocks is not just about constructing with Lego; it’s about building essential life skills in a supportive and playful environment.

    Elevating communication together! Our AAC Parent Training program is tailored to empower parents in supporting their child’s communication journey. From understanding the technology to encouraging your child to use their device, we’re here to guide you every step of the way. The adventure doesn’t end there! The highlight of the program will be the family field trip to Lone Pine Sanctuary, where parents have the unique opportunity to support their child’s AAC use in a fun and educational environment. Watch as connections deepen and communication flourishes amidst the wonders of wildlife and nature.

    Teen Traveller

Led by our adventurous allied health professionals, this community-based initiative encourages teens to actively plan, prepare, and participate in exciting activities. Whether it’s a scavenger hunt, bowling, mini-golf, or exploring the city, Teen Travellers provides a supportive environment where young people can build their independence, life skills, and confidence. Teen Travellers is operated in small groups with one allied health professional per two participants.

Therapy Programs – Brisbane
Cooking Program

Are you ready to let your child embark on a flavoursome journey towards culinary independence? We are thrilled to announce our Bright Door Cooking Program, where students will learn essential cooking skills, enhance executive function abilities, improve task attention, experience sensory exposure to new foods, and enjoy socialisation through the joy of cooking.

Our program caters to Beginner and Intermediate skills.

Beginner Group
Ideal for those with limited to no experience or practice in the kitchen. Led by our expert occupational therapist and supported by allied health professionals, participants will dive into the basics of cooking and gain confidence in the kitchen.

Intermediate Group
Our Intermediate group is designed to advance your child’s culinary abilities. Led by our skilled occupational therapist and supported by allied health professionals, this group focuses on practical and independent cooking skills, taking their kitchen expertise to the next level.

Therapy Programs – Townsville

Building Blocks (Intro + Program)

1) Intro to Building Blocks

To attend the Building Blocks group program, your child will first need to complete our ‘Intro to Building Blocks’ program. This is a short block of individual intervention (3 x individual therapy sessions with our certified Lego-based therapy facilitator) and includes an intake phone call with the child’s parent/caregiver.

Why Intro to Building Blocks?
Our one-on-one ‘Intro to Building Blocks’ sessions are conducted by our certified Lego-based therapy facilitator ensure your child is placed in a Building Blocks group of peers with similar ages, skills and interests.

What skills does my child need to have to participate in the program?
Your child may be suitable for the Building Blocks program if they can:

  • Complete a simple puzzle (or loves playing with Lego at home already!)
  • Stay in a group for 30+ minutes with short breaks
  • Generally requires only minimal external support/co-regulation in a group environment
  • Can regulate big emotions with some support
  • Understand and give simple instructions (Please note: children with language difficulties are able to participate in the group and are supported by our Speech Pathologist through the use of visuals and other strategies)

What skills does the Building Blocks program assist with?
The primary goal of the Building Blocks group program is to foster social collaboration and teamwork. In addition, the program supports the development of other skills, including:

  • Problem-solving as a team
  • Emotional and Self-Regulation
  • Fine Motor Skills
  • Executive Functioning
  • Language Skills
  • Creativity and Imagination
  • Self-esteem and Confidence:
  • Attention and Focus
  • Friendship and Relationship Building

2) Building Blocks Program 

Bright Door’s evidence-based Building Blocks program enables children to participate in a small group that fosters social collaboration and teamwork, through the use of LEGO® bricks. Children will have a blast working together, each taking on different roles to build incredible designs together, with the support from our certified Lego-based therapy facilitator.

The program is beneficial for children who experience social communication challenges (including Autism, ADHD, anxiety, and Developmental Language Disorder), and is based on a neuro-affirming practice approach. Through structured and unstructured play opportunities, participants of the program will have lots of opportunity to make new friends and create positive connections!

8-week block of Lego-based therapy
Run by our certified Lego-based therapy facilitator (Occupational Therapist) and Speech Pathologist

Children aged 8 – 12 years
Maximum 4 children per group
Children must have completed our individual ‘Intro to Building Blocks’ sessions to be eligible (see overleaf)

Session cost: $169.74 per person (inclusive of 1 ¼hrs face-to-face and ¼hrs non-face-to-face time)
An optional 1 hr progress report can be provided on completion of the program (i.e. for NDIS review purposes).

Total Cost: $1,357.92 + Introductory Program + the optional progress report if desired
