Melissa Cook – Senior Speech Language Pathologist & Allied Health Manager

Melissa has broad experience working in private practice, education, and community settings. She has worked with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including children with diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds and children who have experienced complex trauma. Melissa takes a strengths-based and relationship-focused approach and partners with the important people in a child’s life in order to develop personalised goals and therapy plans.

As the Allied Health Coordinator of the Townsville clinic, Melissa supports the skilled multidisciplinary team to provide collaborative and evidence-based services in order to help children and young people achieve their goals. In her free time, she enjoys exploring North Queensland and visiting family and friends in Brisbane.

Chloe Anastasiou – Occupational Therapist
Chloe Anastasiou – Occupational Therapist

Chloe is an Occupational Therapist, who is dedicated to improving the lives of children and helping them reach their full potential. With a strong academic background and a passion for children’s development, Chloe has developed the skills necessary to assess and provide interventions for a wide range of physical, cognitive and emotional needs. Chloe’s approach to therapy is creative, engaging and child centred, using play and fun activities to help children build skills, confidence and independence. She is committed to ongoing learning and the use of evidence-based practices to guide her work. In Chloe’s spare time she enjoys, traveling, cooking, socialising with friends, and spending time with family.

Kyla Neil – Speech Pathologist
Kyla Neil – Speech Pathologist

Kyla is a Speech Language Pathologist at the Bright Door clinic in Townsville. She enjoys working as part of the multidisciplinary team, helping children to work at their goals across a variety of areas. Kyla is keen to help families feel supported, celebrate the successes, and give them the skills to achieve both in and out of the clinic sessions. Outside of work, Kyla spends her time with family and friends, watching a good movie or taking a hike.

Natalie Smith – Occupational Therapist
Natalie Smith – Occupational Therapist

Natalie is an Occupational Therapist working at the Bright Doors Clinic in Townsville and is dedicated to helping children become independent and successful in their daily lives. With her background in Occupational Therapy, she is equipped with a range of skills and techniques designed to help children develop their fine and gross motor, cognitive and sensory skills. She also works to build capacity in key life skills such as self-care, social skills and problem solving. By using a client-centred approach, Natalie works closely with each child and their family to identify specific needs and goals, and then create a tailored treatment plan to help them achieve their goals. Natalie firmly believes that children learn best when they are supported and encouraged, and strives to create a safe and nurturing environment that fosters growth and development. Natalie is passionate in enabling each child to gain the confidence they need to succeed and to support their families to thrive.

Ashton is a Speech Pathologist working at the Bright Door clinic and Language Disorder Australia’s School Support Services in Townsville. Ashton has always been passionate about working with children and helping them to build capacity for participation in their functional daily activities. She is experienced in assessing and providing interventions for a wide range of speech and language needs. Ashton enjoys working closely with other allied health and education professionals to adopt a holistic approach when supporting children to thrive in all environments. When working to build children’s communication skills, Ashton’s approach to therapy is client-centred, evidence-based, innovative and fun. In her spare time, Ashton enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading a good book, and walking her dog.
